Job Summary

The Rooms Controller collaborates closely with Revenue Management, the Front Desk, and other operational departments to oversee the hotel's room inventory. The primary goal is to maximize revenue and ensure high-quality service for guests.


Job Duties & Functions

  • Strategically block guestrooms and balance room types to enhance revenue opportunities and achieve guest satisfaction goals.
  • Assign VIPs and recognized members to upgraded room types, and allocate rooms for upgrades performed by the front desk to drive revenue.
  • Manage the inventory of Out of Order and Out of Service rooms, coordinating with Housekeeping, Engineering, and the Front Desk, and keep the Revenue Management team updated.
  • Actively engage in Group Strategy meetings to manage group inventory effectively, including specific room types.
  • Ensure consistency across the Property Management System (Galaxy), Revenue Management System (ROS), and Central Reservations System (Valhalla), and take corrective action if discrepancies occur.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Revenue Management or Hotel Leadership team.
Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Generally requires a high school diploma and 2 to 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Works under general supervision with the ability to handle moderately complex issues, referring more intricate problems to senior staff.
  • Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of the subject matter.
  • May offer leadership, coaching, and mentoring to junior team members.
