General Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to perform processing functions for mortgage and home equity loans and provide information on credit union products and services to members and stake holders in accordance with credit union policies and procedures and State and Federal rules and regulations; The Mortgage Loan Processor will provide exceptional service and ensure loan milestones are efficiently reached meeting and/or exceeding industry standards.
Essential Functions
- Perform all mortgage loan processor functions including- Order, review, and ensure accuracy/compliance for-title search/documents, appraisal, flood search, tax transcripts, verifications of real estate owned, debts, and employment, payoff letters, proof of insurance and recording of liens. Perform all processor functions for home equity loan products.
- Prepare loan disclosures and other documents and deliver directly to applicants for signature.Perform final review of application and then submit to underwriting.
- Work with applicants and other stake holders to satisfy underwriting conditions in a professional manner providing service with friendly, expedited, and forward-thinking approach.
- Understand and possess adequate knowledge to explain loan products and loan processes to stake holders.
- Monitor flow of loan files ensuring loan meets milestones in timely manner ultimately getting loans cleared to close and scheduled with closing team..
- Follow up with phone calls, email, and texts to applicants/members, and vendors for status of loans applications.
- Maintain and communicate reports for loan pipeline management indicating status of approved, declined, and cancelled/withdrawn.
- Schedule appointments and record business development activities on behalf of the Mortgage Loan Officers.
- Assist with closing and post-closing of mortgage loans as needed.
- Support department supervisor with preparing reports, CDFI initiatives, scheduling calendar, creating/maintaining meeting agendas, maintaining CRM for borrower contacts and prospects including email campaigns and lead generation.
- Represent the credit union as needed at community functions.

- Assist with opening deposit accounts for new mortgage loan members through third party software.
- Requires education equivalent to a four-year high school education.
- At least 4 years’ experience processing mortgage loans or other relevant experience
- Work requires knowledge of mortgage and consumer loan policy, credit-granting criteria, and interest rates.
- Must possess professional, well developed interpersonal skills essential for projecting a positive image as a representative of the credit union.
- Must posess the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks according to time constraints, work independently, analyze documents, and focus on accuracy and attention to detailRequires strong judgment skills. May be required to respond to unscripted questions that are critical to loan decisions.
- Intermediate mathematical skills required (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.)
- Intermediate knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Applications, specifically MS Word and Excel preferred.
