Galison Publishing is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant who will report to our department head in our NYC office.
Key Responsibilities: The person in this role will process inventory-related invoices, operating expense activity, and cash disbursement cycles as well as reconcile bank accounts and resolve vendor inquiries and discrepancies. They will maintain proper tax identification and bank information and accurate prepaid expense schedules, and they will also manage fixed assets and maintain schedules and reconcile subledgers. The job will also include collaboration with management to establish policies & procedures based on best practices, preparation of schedules, and other reports and tasks as required.
Hiring Salary Range: $63,000-$72,450. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the expected salary for this position and will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, an applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is eligible for our profit share plan.

Schedule: Employees at Galison Publishing follow a regular hybrid schedule in our New York City office of at least three (3) in-office days per week and up to five (5) in-office days per week, depending on project and business needs.

Qualifications: Applicants will need a minimum of 4 years’ experience with accounts payable and basic bookkeeping practices, particularly in consumer goods or other cost accounting-based industries. They will also need experience with inventory, fixed assets and prepaid expenses. We are looking for someone detail-oriented and highly organized with good organizational skills and advanced knowledge of Excel including XLOOKUP and PivotTables. Familiarity with Dynamics NAV/365 or other ERP systems is also needed along with comprehension of commission and royalty accounting/reporting processes and strong analytical and judgment skills. We seek someone with interest in improving systems and processes, with the ability to communicate needs and difficulties and who has genuine enjoyment of accounting work.
