Description

The Medical Scribe ensures timely and accurate documentation of medical records under a medical provider. Medical Scribes accompany the provider in the exam rooms, during patient examinations, and record the information into the electronic medical record system. The Medical Scribe is on the “front-line” of healthcare, acting as physician’s personal efficiency partner. While a Scribe does not perform clinical work (e.g., does not touch patients, does not practice medicine), s/he is integral member of the care team by standing elbow-to-elbow with a physician or nurses for 8+ hours each day. Ideal position for a recent or upcoming Graduate taking some time off before going to Medical, PA or Nursing school Get the opportunity to gain real-life experience in a clinical setting while earning clinical hours.


Job Duties

  • Accompany medical provider into exam rooms and transcribe a history, physical examination, and other documentation directly related to the physician-patient encounter.
  • Document resulted patient orders including laboratory test, radiology etc.
  • List all diagnosis, follow up instructions, and prescriptions as dictated by physician.
  • Document any procedures performed during the visit.
  • Other clerical tasks to help the medical provider work more efficiently and effectively.
Requirements
  • High school diploma required
  • Prior knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy
  • Ability to type 60 WPM
  • Computer proficiency
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain calmness during busy and stressful situations
  • Maintains a positive, caring attitude towards patients
  • Demonstrate positive, professional customer service in all patient, staff, and visitor contact
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Travel between Fayetteville, Newnan and Peachtree City
