Chronicle Books is excited to announce an opening for a Trade Sales Assistant. In this role, you will provide efficient day-to-day administrative and project support in a highly collaborative workplace that thrives on strong communication skills. Key Responsibilities: You will handle key account sales support by preparing for sales calls, creating collections, gathering samples, managing mockup requests, and creating PowerPoint presentations and title spreadsheets. You will produce and analyze account reports, monitor purchase orders and stock levels, execute regular mailings of advance book copies, and manage inventory holds for customers. Providing ad-hoc support to sales managers by pulling together assets, samples, and data, and interfacing with buyers will also be key parts of this position.
For independent trade support, you will work directly with the Director of Trade Sales by managing communications with internal trade reps, helping plan and execute sales conferences, and administering online digital catalogs. Key operational tasks will include placing rep/buyer gratis orders, checking stock & availability for commission rep groups, maintaining mailing lists, and managing new account leads in Salesforce. You will also help coordinate and contribute to bookseller newsletters, support reps with regional trade show management, assist with seasonal launch presentations, and support the Sales Director with sales & marketing meetings and note taking.
Hiring Salary Range: $22.84 - $26.27/hr. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the expected salary for this position and will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, an applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is eligible for our profit share plan.

Schedule: Employees at Chronicle Books will follow a regular hybrid schedule in our San Francisco office of at least three (3) in-office days per week and up to five (5) in-office days per week, depending on project and business needs. Qualifications: Candidates will need a minimum of 1 to 2 years in an equivalent role, clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, an ability to prioritize time effectively and manage multiple tasks. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills are strongly preferred and prior experience with Salesforce.com and Edelweiss is also a plus. We are looking for someone with a desire to work in a high-performing, collaborative, team environment who is a self-motivated individual with the ability and initiative to work independently, as well as collaborate. Customer service and/or some retail experience is preferred and applicants must be able to carry/lift 40 lbs.
