Your Role in Our Mission:
This is an exciting opportunity for a development professional energized by deepening donor engagement, utilizing data and analytics to drive fund growth, and joining a fast-paced and dynamic Development and Communications team. The efforts of the Donor Advisor contribute to a sustainable source of philanthropic revenue that builds a pipeline for major, planned, and campaign giving. This position is newly developed, and the ideal candidate will bring an open and creative mind, a self-starter attitude and the twin competencies of working collaboratively and independently.
In This Position, You Will:
- Manage an evolving pool of 400-600 new, returning, and sustaining mid-level donors comprised primarily of individuals currently giving $1,000-$10,000 annually.
- Cultivate donors primarily by executing one-to-many communication plans and targeted, timely one-to-one outreach.
- Develop, document and implement solicitation plans for each donor.
- Provide timely and meaningful stewardship when gifts are received.
- Qualify donor pool for capacity to support and interest in the Food Bank’s mission, as well as interest in more personalize relationship with the Food Bank.
- Facilitate smooth transitions into managed portfolios for the most qualified donors and as donor engagement or giving increase.
- Utilize data analysis and research tools to continually identify donors with potential to increase their impact upon our mission via annual and planned gifts.
- Work collaboratively to forecast revenue from mid-level donors.
- Use data analysis to develop and maintain ongoing measurement and reporting of program success.
- Collaborate closely across development and communications departments, especially with colleagues in annual giving and development operations.
Milestones:
In the first 30 days, you will:
- Develop relationships with team members in Development and Communications.
- Complete trainings and become oriented on software such as Salesforce and iWave and the programs and systems utilized by all Food Bank staff.
- Lean into learning about the Food Bank's work and the roles that our partner network and Feeding America play in informing our work.
- Collaborate to ensure your orientation includes the types of training and information that will help you succeed in your first 90 days.
In the first 90 days, you will:
- Demonstrate proficiency in Salesforce and iWave.
- Demonstrate traction in your portfolio by executing established solicitation plans, developing an outline of communication outreaches, beginning analysis of donor trends, etc.
- Deepen relationships with team members in Development and Communications due to collaboration.
- Begin to develop relationships in other divisions to understand the Food Bank and excel in your role.
In the first 6 months, you will:
- Establish rapport with donors, be responsive to their needs, and be inquisitive about their philanthropic goals.
- Make recommendations and execute plans regarding segmentation, utilizing your skills in donor data analysis.
- Work collaboratively to develop a process to cycle donors through your program and measure results.
- Begin collaborating on forecasting fundraising by segment for the following fiscal year.
In the first 12 months, you will:
- Meet performance metrics such as donor retention, the number of high-quality engagements with donors, and the quantity of communications.
- Be in process of executing your documented plans to raise dollars from your segment of donors.
- Demonstrate success in improving donor engagement by transitioning donor relationships who need a higher level of touch.
- Proactively identify opportunities for growth, redirection, or focus for this new position and zoom in on how it can best contribute to the team and our fundraising goals.
As a Successful Candidate, You Have:
- Experience fundraising including expertise managing a pool of donors, analyzing donor trends, developing strategic segmentation, and refining processes to enhance fundraising outcomes.
- Ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies.
- A natural curiosity about others and are a people-oriented professional.
- Experience in a campaign environment and working with a major gifts team, preferably.
- Exceptional project management, communication, organizational skills, as well as experience with data analysis and ability to manage competing tasks.
- The ability to generate and personalize phone calls, emails and letters to donors, and respond to donor inquiries promptly, with the goal of greater donor engagement.
- Experience with Salesforce and iWave, preferably.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to work outside general office hours, such as evenings and weekends, and occasional travel out of town.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
The Donor Advisor position is sedentary in nature, with extended periods of sitting. It requires extensive use of a display terminal or computer. The position requires reading, comprehension, and communication ability. It requires the use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; and talking and hearing. Vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The position may have to manage many projects at once and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of donors, clients, and vendors. The environment may be busy, and the incumbent will need excellent organizational, time, and stress management skills to complete the required tasks.
