Job Purpose - Water is one of Colorado’s most precious resources, and conserving it is essential for the state’s long-term resilience. Resource Central’s Lawn Replacement program partners with over 30 Colorado municipalities and water providers to put water conservation into action through sustainable landscaping options. The Crew Lead for the Lawn Replacement Program will play an essential role in leading small teams in removing lawns and initiating water conservation across the Front Range. This role is geared towards individuals who are willing to learn how to drive a truck and trailer with equipment and yard waste, who are passionate about conservation, and will bring a positive attitude towards educating Colorado communities about water-conscious landscapes. The position starts May 5, 2025 and is expected to last until September 2025. Full-time seasonal positions are preferred; however, part-time opportunities can become available. Compensation ranges between $21.00-$25.00 per hour, plus applicable mileage reimbursement, cell phone stipend, and paid training and sick leave. Help our program participants remove their lawns, making way for a better sustainable low water landscape!


Principal Responsibilities- The essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead and motivate small teams to help implement the largest lawn replacement program in Colorado.
  • Conduct fieldwork involving the daily operation of lawn removal equipment, driving, and maneuvering of a pickup truck with a 14 ft trailer; training provided.
  • Safely operate sod cutters and hand tools such as shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, and picks. Lift and move sections of sod into trailers. As well as disposal at partnered facilities; training provided.
  • Daily Travel to project locations across the Colorado Front Range. Traveling to other cities which includes an extended commute or overnight stay may be required at times; travel pay and accommodations will be provided.
  • Enforce and adhere to all safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all crew members.
  • Actively communicate with program participants to confirm project scope, answer questions, and provide exceptional customer service with a positive attitude.
  • Assist with other Resource Central programs as assigned.
  • Contribute to a strong sense of belonging where everyone can feel welcomed and included.

Skills and Abilities

  • Safely use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, and picks.
  • Ability to safely work outdoors in all kinds of weather including high temperatures and rain with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to safely lift at least 30 pounds repeatedly, as well as push heavy wheelbarrows, squat, kneel, lift, and bend repeatedly.
  • Basic computer and smartphone skills.

Qualifications

  • Experience driving a truck and trailer preferred, but not required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to qualify for driving responsibilities; a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, daily access to a reliable automobile, and a smartphone is required.
  • Experience in fieldwork, landscaping, or construction is preferred.
  • Must pass a background check and driving record evaluation if offered a position.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
