Harbor’s Edge is a premier 5-star, resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located alongside the beautiful harbor in Norfolk, Virginia. Our community consists of 300 Independent Living Residential Units, a 33-bed (Medicare/private) Skilled Nursing Healthcare Unit, a 40-bed Assisted Living Unit, and 34-bed Memory Support Unit.
We are seeking compassionate, positive, highly skilled full-time Certified Nursing Assistants/Registered Medication Aides to join our teams in Assisted Living and Memory Support Units. We are looking for the following shifts: (7a-3p, 3p-11p, 11p-7a). This role is responsible for providing appropriate direct support, positive direction, and assistance to residents in accordance with each resident's care plan. Ideal candidates will have senior living work experience (e.g., long-term care, assisted living, memory support) and a passion for working with an elderly population.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
- Follow individualized plan of care for each assigned resident as directed. Check and record vital signs and weights, administer medications or treatments under the direction of a Licensed Nurse. Document and report daily care.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed including showering, toileting, dressing, etc.
- Assist staff with heavy lifting, transferring, and ambulation ensuring proper use of body mechanics as well as utilization of required facility gait belts, back supports, and mechanical devices according to policy and physicians’ orders. Maintain a restraint-free environment at all times and support fall prevention programs for all residents in need.
- Positively encourage residents to participate in recreational activities and assist in transporting residents to and from activities. Provide transportation for residents within the facility and, at times, may accompany residents to appointments outside facility as directed by management.
- May assist with resident admissions and discharges as needed according to facility procedure.
- May be assigned to other departments within Health Services as needed.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- At least one (1) year of relevant work experience.
- Current CPR and First Aid Trained with a valid certificate/card required.
- Current COVID Vaccine is required to support the health and safety of our residents and staff.
- Experience and knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical supplies and equipment.
- Demonstrate engaging and positive demeanor with genuine desire to work successfully with the elderly and/or disabled.
- Must be able to successfully follow verbal written and verbal instructions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Must be able to communicate tactfully and effectively with all personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
- Previous long-term care experience preferred.
- Be able to exert a minimum of 50 lbs. of energy in order to assist elderly in and out of wheelchairs, beds, etc., as well as be able to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, turn, bend, stoop, crouch and kneel, balance, and maintain body equilibrium to prevent falls, reach over the head, push/pull, and grasp with both hands.
