About Us:
Knowlton Swim Club is a privately owned swim facility, managed by the Linvill family since its founding in 1927. Open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, we offer swim lessons, a competitive swim team, swim meets, and various summer events for our members. We are seeking a manager to oversee all aspects of swim club operations, ensuring a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience for our members.
Position Overview:
The Swim Club Manager is responsible for the overall operations, safety, maintenance, and programming of the facility. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to effectively manage staff, schedules, and member services. This job is a perfect fit for teachers seeking flexible, seasonal work during the summer break. Time Commitment: Now – Labor Day: April & May weekends; Peak Season (Late June – Early August) Minimum 40 hours per week during peak season (Memorial Day – Labor Day).
Key Responsibilities:
Staffing & Leadership:
- Oversee all staff, ensuring proper coverage during operating hours.
- Ensure lifeguards are professional and engaged with members.
- Provide direct coverage for lifeguard or office duties as needed.
- Implement and enforce an “on-call” system for staff, ensuring adequate coverage, especially on high-traffic days (e.g., temperatures above 89°F).
- Assign cleaning and maintenance tasks to lifeguard staff on a daily, weekly, and monthly schedule.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure that the facility meets or exceeds OSHA, state, and local health regulations.
- Maintain proper pool chemical balances, filtration, and water quality, logging pH and chlorine levels hourly as required by law.
- Ensure all rescue and safety equipment is in working order.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage and mechanical rooms.
- Conduct and document annual safety surveys for member feedback.
- Ensure first aid kits and AEDs are fully stocked and operational.
Facility & Maintenance:
- Open and close the facility daily, ensuring it is secure each night.
- Coordinate annual pool draining, filling, and painting with the maintenance department.
- Oversee routine maintenance schedules for all pool-related equipment.
- Ensure the gate is always staffed and that all members and guests follow check-in procedures.
Membership & Guest Management:
- Ensure all members are registered and checked in before using the pool.
- Enforce policies for guest entry, waivers, and photo ID check-ins.
- Ensure office personnel understand and use membership management software correctly.
- Maintain accurate attendance records
Incident & Risk Management:
- Document and report all accidents, injuries, or incidents.
- Lifeguard certification (course is offered)
- Prior management experience in aquatics or recreation strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with membership management software (training available).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
