Public Affairs Associate
Description

Hudson Institute seeks a public affairs associate to support all aspects of public affairs operations, encompassing digital, editorial, media, and events. All aspects of the job demand someone who is detail-oriented, can multitask, and possesses a zeal for accuracy. This is a full-time position based out of Hudson’s Washington, DC office and reporting to the director of public affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors media mentions for Hudson Institute and its experts; produces Hudson’s internal daily clips and global events calendar.
  • Supports the manager of public programming in executing Hudson Institute events and meetings.
  • Manages selection of visual media for newsletters, publications, and online content.
  • Collaborates with the assistant editor to work within Hudson’s CMS, posting content to Hudson’s website and ensuring that all material is accurate and publish-ready.
  • Helps to track and analyze organizational metrics to measure impact and effectiveness of communications initiatives.
  • Supports the director of media relations to maintain current press contact lists, utilizing social media and databases to keep lists up to date.
  • Serve as a “utility player” for Hudson’s public affairs team, employing diverse skills to support projects and objectives as needs and opportunities develop. 
Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including professional and tactful demeanor.
  • Ability to work closely and effectively with others—including Hudson’s senior management, experts, and staff.
  • Creative and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Technologically savvy; capable of learning and managing Hudson’s various digital platforms.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) and digital publishing workflows.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics or other marketing analytics platforms.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and synthesize written materials, especially related to public policy.
  • Commitment to acting with integrity and the utmost professionalism.
Salary Description
$50,000 - $54,000 per year
