Summary
Mackenthun's Cashiers perform Cashier functions according to department standards and processes.
Cashiers promote Mackenthun's Exceptional customer Experience by greeting each customer with a smile, offering assistance, and working with other employees as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Mackenthun's Cashiers are expected to accurately process customer orders at the check-out, accept payments, and provide the correct change as necessary.
Offer assistance, answer customer questions, and ensure customers' purchases are promptly and properly bagged. This includes bagging groceries as needed.
Assist with/conduct selling events.
Cashiers may be cross-trained in the Service Center.
Other Duties
Keeping the cash drawer balanced and organized.
Assist with stocking products, facing shelves, general store maintenance, and cleaning.
Other duties as requested.
Qualifications
Must express a positive, friendly attitude, focus on customer needs, and provide exceptional customer service.
Must be able to work independently and as a team, have solid problem-solving skills and excellent decision-making capabilities.
Must have an interest in selling food and promoting Mackenthun's Exceptional Experience for customers and coworkers.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Prior retail experience is preferred but not required.
Must have basic math skills.
Must have excellent communication skills including reading, speaking, and writing the English language.
Must be willing to learn the characteristics and qualities of the products and services Mackenthun's offers.
Minimize company losses due to poor customer service, inaccurate processing of orders, and improper product handling.
Ability to prioritize and efficiently perform duties; be accurate, honest, and dependable.
Perform all duties in a manner that safeguards company property, resources, and image.
Mackenthun's Cashier work schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands
Regular/constant standing/walking/seeing/hearing for long periods of time.
Frequent bending at the waist, reaching with hands and arms, crouching, climbing stairs, use of fingers, and sorting.
Need to be able to define colors, read at close and distant ranges, and perform repetitive activities.
Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
Training
Training will be provided on all aspects of the cash register, cashiering functions, and duties, plus food safety, personal safety, and harassment prevention.
Trained in proper product stock and rotation processes.
Equipment Used
Computerized cash register, scanner, printer, and credit card processor, phone/intercom system, call box, shop.ping carts and baskets, broom, duster, step stool.
Work Environment
Indoors, occasionally outdoors, in hot and cold temperatures, near moving conveyor belts, on terrazzo flooring.
Smoke-free facility in a team-oriented, multifaceted, and fast-paced environment.
Exposure to cleaning chemicals.
