Position Summary: 

This position is perfect for a person who enjoys coordinating and planning events.  This detailed and organized person will work with our wonderful group of volunteers to ensure they are scheduled in the correct positions. This person also works collaboratively with the JFS Boulder Director and the Denver Volunteer Department to align policies and procedures for recruiting, onboarding, and maintaining volunteers. Participate in the strategic growth of the Boulder JFS office particularly regarding volunteer program expansion. Recruit additional Friendly Visitor volunteers and clients, para-chaplains, and Boulder Ambassadors. Coordinate and staff holidays (High Holidays, Hanukkah, and Passover) and Shabbat celebrations at area older adult facilities. Coordinate at-home delivery of food/farm shares, challah, and holiday gift baskets. Perform administrative and data-tracking duties to support the Boulder JFS team. This position is required to work additional hours during traditional Holiday celebration periods (e.g., Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Hannukah).


This position is 18.75 hours per week.  The schedule will vary depending on holidays, celebrations, and events.  Additional hours will be required during bright holidays. 


Hiring Range: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour

Responsibilities: 

  • Engage in the strategic growth of the Boulder office with a specific focus on the volunteer program expansion. 
  • In consultation with agency staff, develop, expand, and support the Friendly Visitor volunteer program.
  • Coordinate with the Care Manager(s) to identify volunteer matches and client support needs. 
  • Create a re-assessment process with Friendly Visitor volunteers and clients to evaluate ongoing needs.
  • Prescreen applicants for the Friendly Visitor, Para Chaplin, Boulder Ambassadors, and other volunteer positions to determine primary areas of interest.
  • Interview and onboard potential volunteers.
  • Provide training, support processes, ongoing training, and volunteer appreciation strategies.
  • Manage volunteer profiles and activities in the web-based database.
  • Coordinate Holiday celebrations at older adult residential communities across Boulder:
  • Organize and deploy multiple Holiday celebrations, ensuring the provision of Holiday food or meals, often occurring simultaneously during a short period. 
  • Communicate and maintain positive relationships with assisted living/residential facility staff, facility directors, and rabbinical leadership.
  • Identify volunteer Para Chaplains to engage and/or lead Holiday celebrations.
  • Maintain media releases and records of volunteer hours and track them electronically.
  • Communicate about Holiday events, such as writing up Holiday event descriptions for social media and other promotional materials, including event photography.
  • Represent JFS at various community outreach and educational events as needed.
  • Actively participate in department and agency meetings in both Boulder and Denver locations as well as ad hoc committees, as requested by the Director of Boulder.
  • May supervise interns to support Volunteer programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  

Qualifications: 

  • High level of knowledge of Microsoft Office. 
  • Understanding of Jewish community and traditions is preferred.
  • Experience working with older adults, adults with chronic illnesses/disability, and/or individuals and their families who are experiencing poverty. 
  • Non-profit experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including phone and in-person interviewing.
  • Able to manage time effectively and work independently while organizing workload. 
  • Detail-oriented. 
  • Ability to comfortably engage with a diverse range of people.

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience

  • Two – five years’ experience in a volunteer services program, Social Work, Gerontology, or related human services field preferred.

$26.00 - $32.00 per hour
