This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The MOD will work as part of the Membership Service Team at the Welcome Center on weekends and possibly after business hours to oversee workflow and safety.
Hours:
Saturday 7am - 5pm
Sunday 8am -- 4pm
additional weekday hours y be available to the right candidate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Developing and Inspiring People:
- Supervise staff and volunteers to ensure quality programming is being delivered to participants consistent with the YMCA philosophy and mission.?
- Evaluate staff performance, identifying areas for improvement and recognizing successes.
- Cultivate and promote the professional development of staff for growth and success.
Building Relationships:
- Provide exceptional customer service; in person as well as by phone and email.
- Provide in-depth information in regards to the Southern District YMCA, such as membership, programs, activities, special events, etc.
- Onboarding, supervision, engagement, growth and retention of members.
- Provide in-depth tours and information in regards to the Southern District YMCA, such as membership, programs, activities, special events, etc.
- Handle and resolve staff and member concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality of all member, employee and volunteer information and files.
Leading Operations:
- Providing suitable shift coverage, re-staffing or covering gaps where needed.
- Become knowledgeable on branch operation processes and procedures, providing coverage as needed (Welcome Desk, Wellness Floor, Kids Club, etc.).
- Coordinates use of facilities for scheduled program activities and events.
- Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
- Conduct assessment of the entire building and grounds every twenty minutes throughout shift to ensure safety of staff and members. This includes but is not limited to parking lots, gymnasium, exercise rooms, rest rooms and locker rooms.
- Direct staff and assist in maintaining a clean facility by stocking restrooms/locker rooms, emptying trash, and performing other general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, cleaning windows, etc.
- Respond to emergencies as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Risk Management
- Follow employees and volunteers screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk.
- Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk.
- Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with consumers.
- Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk
- Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization’s progressive disciplinary procedures.
- Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
- Follow mandated reporting requirements.
- Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization’s commitment to protect their consumers from abuse.
- Report essential abuse risk management information to the board of directors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 18+
- 2 years previous customer service experience preferred.
- 2 years management experience required.
- Associate degree or higher in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have superior interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Must have effective conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team for the success of the department.
- Must be able to complete YMCA required training as scheduled by management.
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain certifications of the job (CPR and First Aid/AED)
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Must have scheduling flexibility.
- Must be experienced with computers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to remain alert for several hours at a time.
- Ability to walk, stand or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to bend, kneel, push, and pull.
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate needs.
- Ability to view computer monitor for long periods.
