Description

WHO ARE WE? Horizon Project is a nonprofit in Umatilla County. We support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and in the community.


WHAT IS A DSP? DSPs provide direct care and support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our goal is to help them live a full and dignified life. Everyday duties may include housekeeping, administering medications, cooking, hygiene support, and transportation assistance (in a company-provided vehicle). DSPs accompany clients on outings to the fair, the museum, or on vacation. We make a difference in their lives!


WHY WORK AT HORIZON PROJECT? We hire people with no prior experience. However, prior experience is considered when offering a starting wage. All training and certifications are done in house during your first 90 days. Employees can pick from Day, Swing, or Graveyard (NOC) shift and have a consistent schedule week to week. There are opportunities for overtime, but it is not required.


PAY RANGE: $16.00 - $22.00 (starting offers are within $16-$18.50 DOE)

JOB DUTIES (FULL DESCRIPTION PROVIDED DURING INTERVIEW)

  • Following medical procedures regarding dispensing, administering, and documenting client medication.
  • Following safety procedures including understanding evacuation plans, maintaining current CPR Certification (paid training provided), and ensuring a clean and safe living environment for the clients
  • Following program procedures regarding client service plans, individual support plans, and action plans.
  • Following financial procedures regarding client and household bank accounts and petty cash.
  • Assisting with client care including bathing, dental hygiene, transportation, housekeeping, and cooking.
  • Following professional behavior standards by communicating with teammates and supervisors, being open to suggestions for improvement, maintaining proper attendance, and respecting the dignity of teammates and clients.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must clear an Oregon State criminal background check (renewed every 2 years)
  • Must pass a urine drug test
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English, verbal, oral, and written
  • Day shift and swing shift require a driver's license that is insurable by company auto insurance

Physical Demands

Physical demands include assisting in all aspects of activities of daily living for clients, transporting clients, and traveling from location to location as needs dictate.
