Description
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Parts Materials Manager and Parts Supervisor. The Parts Clerk is responsible for the daily operation of Charlotte Area Transit System-Bus Operations Division (CATS-BOD) Parts Department and storerooms. Includes issuing bus parts to mechanics and other maintenance personnel. Includes shipping and receiving maintenance materials, and other general operating supplies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that parts and operating supplies are made available to mechanics and other CATS-BOD departments that includes pick-up and delivery of parts using CATS vehicles (van/truck).
- Assist Parts Manager with the procurement of all maintenance parts and supplies includes all fuel/petroleum products and establish and maintain inventory levels to determine need for reorder.
- Maintain adequate supply of parts and supplies in the inventory system and assist with annual inventory of total stock and reconcile such inventory with CATS-BOD archives as required.
- Ensure verification of shipment of incoming/outgoing parts and supplies for delivery, quality, authorizing signatures on requisitions and availability dates (Operation of motorized Forklift and other lift equipment required).
- Coordinate with Maintenance Shop Foremen and other Maintenance Managers in order to ensure continuity of parts and supplies for all shifts to maintain an adequate supply of parts and supplies in the inventory system to provide efficient operation of CATS-BOD.
- Coordinate with Parts Manager and Assistant Parts Manager for the accuracy of records and stock levels and proper flow of Purchase Orders and Requisitions
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Detailed knowledge and experience in Inventory Management concepts
- Ability to become knowledgeable and proficient in the Spear Inventory Management Software Application.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (MS Word, Outlook) Excel not required although is a plus.
- Ability to become knowledgeable and proficient with customized transit and CATS/BOD related Maintenance and Parts Systems.
- Ability to possess and maintain a valid N.C or S.C Driver’s License.
- Provides exemplary customer service to internal and external customers through effective communication, performance management and by personal example
- Must have ability to make good sound decisions and cognitive reasoning
- Must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. overhead. Includes pushing and pulling carts carrying capacity up to 100 lbs. and removing same weight from pallets.
- Physical activities include but are not limited to periods of sitting and standing, and periodic driving CATS Parts Van/Pick-Up Truck.
- Must be able to work any shift and flexible hours.
Paid weekly.
Requirements
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Preference given to applicants with two (2) or more years experience in a Transportation/Automotive Parts Industry.
- Must be able to work any shift and flexible hours. Schedule could vary and may require working beyond regular schedule. May require working weekends and holidays.
