The Development Assistant plays a vital role in supporting fundraising, donor relations, volunteer coordination, and administrative functions. This position ensures smooth development operations, effective donor stewardship, and seamless event planning. The ideal candidate is very detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable handling multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, advertise, and develop a pipeline of student volunteers.
- Support recruitment and placement of corporate volunteers.
- Coordinate background checks, paperwork, and communication before, during, and after volunteer events.
- Provide customer service and support for volunteers, ensuring a positive experience.
- Assist in planning and executing volunteer appreciation events.
Fundraising Event Support
- Assist in planning and executing fundraising events, donor appreciation gatherings, and campaigns.
- Coordinate logistics, including silent auctions, signage, collateral materials, and RSVPs.
- Process and acknowledge donations, ensuring timely thank-you letters and receipts.
Donor Relations & Stewardship
- Maintain and update donor databases, tracking giving history, engagement, and donation trends to support relationship-building efforts.
- Execute donor stewardship plans that ensure all donors, from first-time givers to long-term supporters, receive meaningful and personalized engagement.
- Manage the new donor journey pipeline, ensuring new donors feel welcomed, informed, and valued through timely acknowledgments, impact updates, and invitations to engage further.
- Assist in donor recognition efforts, including sending thank-you notes, follow-up communications, and impact reports to demonstrate transparency and appreciation.
- Facilitate donor appreciation initiatives, such as personalized outreach, exclusive donor updates, appreciation events, and recognition opportunities utilizing the CEO and Director of Development.
- Support efforts to increase donor retention by identifying opportunities to deepen engagement through storytelling, special campaigns, and mission-driven experiences.
- Help maintain the development plan and calendar.
Marketing & Communication Support
- Assist with social media updates, newsletters, blogs, and donor communications.
- Assist with basic website updates
- Coordinate interviews for internal and external communications.
Administrative Support
- Manage schedules, appointments, and travel arrangements for development staff.
- Coordinate with the finance team to reconcile donation records and develop invoices. Assist team in pulling end-of-month reports.
Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience Required
- GED or High school diploma.
Reasoning Ability
