JOB TITLE: Lead Range & Training Center Associate

Reports To: Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager

  

SUMMARY: This position is an essential and dynamic role in the operation of the shooting range. This individual must be knowledgeable about firearms and firearms safety, be willing to firmly enforce the rules and regulations of the shooting range, and always maintain a professional and positive demeanor with the customers and employees. This position is also responsible for employee training, safety education, safety testing, and regular fit testing of employee PPE.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Provide customer service while working the rental/retail counter and become proficient in the use of the companies Point of Sale (POS) software
  • Assist customers with the selection of rental firearms and suggest the additional necessary supplies for use while shooting
  • Instruct customers on range rules, and firearms safety and complete all required paperwork associated with range and firearms rental prior to using the range
  • Work as Range Safety Officer (RSO) and assist in the training of other RSO's 
  • Responsible for promoting a positive culture within the department/store.
  • Supervise, guide and educate shooters who are using the range.

  • Adhere to and enforce all company standards, rules and policies while on the range
  • Assist new and inexperienced shooters using the range in a manner that fosters a comfortable shooting experience while building the competence and confidence of the shooter
  • Assist with Training Center classes 
  • Responsible for employee training - daily, monthly, quarterly, annual employee safety education, fit testing of PPE, and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Works to protect the range and the range equipment from damage due to unsafe shooting practices
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the range facility, training classrooms and all related equipment at all times 
  • Responsible for and performs maintenance on the firing range equipment as needed
  • Cleans and inspects company owned rental firearms regularly to maintain the safe and proper operation
  • Ability to handle customer and employee issues, along with communicating to management regarding issues that need to be addressed.
  • Coordinates with all departments thru store managers to provide a positive and efficient work environment.
  • Assists with coordinating department sales associates’ work schedules and ensures that proper coverage is maintained to insure adequate staffing.
  • Enforces safety, health, and security rules. 
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to explosives. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. Employees will be exposed to loud noises requiring the use hearing protection. Employees may be exposed to airborne particulate hazards that will require the ability to wear safety glasses. Exposure to dust, lead, cleaning solutions and chemical solutions commonly used in the cleaning of firearms is possible.

Employees must be cleared to wear and use, both a full-face respirator and a personal protective suit made of Tyvek or similar material for extended periods of time while performing daily cleaning or maintenance.
