JOB TITLE: Lead Sales Associate - Firearms

Reports To: Department Manager


SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for sales and assisting the department manager or store manager by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists with all aspects of customer service (internal and external customers alike)
  • Ability to handle customer and employee issues, along with communicating to management regarding issues that need to be addressed.
  • Assists with inventory to and from the bound books, warehouse, and sales floor.
  • Is also responsible for promoting a positive culture within the department/store.
  • Follows all procedures and policies that are compliant with State, Federal, and local regulations and laws regarding the sale of firearms and related accessories.
  • Assists with managing and controlling ATF requirements regarding any company activity involving firearm use, manufacturing, purchases, transfers, dispositions, deliveries, transportation, and destruction of National Firearms Act (NFA) and Non-NFA Weapons.
  • Reduces costs and increases efficiency at every step in the sales process through continuous improvement without sacrificing quality or safety.
  • Coordinates with all departments thru store managers to provide a positive and efficient work environment.
  • Assists with coordinating department sales associates’ work schedules and ensures that proper coverage is maintained to insure adequate staffing.
  • Ability to open and close stores and assist or respond to all security issues during business hours.
  • Ability to handle all jobs (sales, cash, merchandising, cleaning, warehouse, etc) within the store and manage or backup, as necessary.

  • All other duties as required by management.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Is accountable for following all the prescribed rules and regulations regarding procedures as dictated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE). Is also responsible for keeping the costs of goods low and the margins high, in terms of buying and retailing of merchandise. The quality control of the merchandising, tagging of flyer items, and making sure the items that they have in stock are out on the sales floor.

LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises 15-40 employees in the assigned Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
