Overview of Position:
Seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and motivated individual to support both the Quality Assurance (QA) and Research & Development (R&D) departments on a temporary basis. The ideal candidate will assist in tasks related to product quality evaluation, data entry, sample storage and preparation, as well as product development activities. This role is crucial for ensuring the consistent quality of our co-manufactured products and supporting ongoing R&D efforts.
Pay Range: $19.00 - $20.00/hour
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Duration: Temporary (6 months)
Description of Responsibilities
Quality Assurance (QA):
- Evaluating COAs (Certificates of Analysis): Review COAs for completeness and accuracy, ensuring all relevant information is provided, including but not limited to microbiological specifications, analytical testing, and harmonization of testing methodologies.
- Conduct QA Product Audits: Perform product audits for each item produced by Lyons’ contract manufacturers according to SQF (Safe Quality Food) audit requirements to ensure compliance.
- Sample Evaluation: Ensure the appropriate number of Contract Manufacturer samples are requested, evaluated, and documented, with results written up in a report.
Research & Development (R&D):
- Sample Storage, Review, Prep, and Evaluation: Assist in the proper storage, handling, and evaluation of co-manufactured product samples for R&D or quality purposes, ensuring sample integrity.
- Data Entry: Accurately input data from analytical tests and product evaluations into the designated database.
- Product Development Support: Provide hands-on support in product development activities, including weighing ingredients, cleaning equipment, and assisting with formulation adjustments.
- Shelf-Life Evaluation: Assist in testing and analyzing samples to determine shelf-life, working with the R&D team to assess product stability.
Education: High School Diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or Life Sciences) preferred.
Experience:
- Prior experience in quality assurance, quality control, or research & development within the food and beverage industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with COA evaluation, microbiological testing, analytical testing, and sample handling/storage is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and procedures.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and experience with data entry.
