Job Summary 

This position is responsible for all aspects of financial accounting and reporting as well as the maintenance of financial records. They ensure accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), company policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Financial Reporting:

· Prepare and analyze financial statements (e.g., balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) on a monthly and annual basis.

· Ensure all financial reports are accurate and delivered to management on time.

General Ledger Management:

· Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.

· Prepare journal entries and review accounting classifications, in accordance with GAAP.

Capital Asset File Management

· Maintain capital assets record keeping files.

· Submit quarterly additions, deletions, and transfers accurately to outside CPA firm for depreciation and amortization calculations.

Audit Support:

· Coordinate and support external audits.

· Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries.

Tax Compliance:

· Assist with tax filings and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government tax requirements.

· Research tax issues and stay informed about changes in tax regulations.

Financial Analysis:

· Analyze financial data to identify trends and potential areas for improvement.

· Provide management with financial insights and recommendations.

Team Leadership:

· Supervise and mentor Staff.

· Provide training and support to ensure team members adhere to accounting principles and company procedures.

· Provide back-up support to staff.

Requirements

  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles, use of a general ledger and chart of accounts.
  • Thorough understanding of NYS sales and use tax rules and guidelines
  • Understanding of financial accounting as well as tax accounting
  • Experience with financial statement preparation including a statement of cash flows.
  • Experience working within an ERP system.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Judgment and Decision-Making skills needed.
  • Deductive Reasoning
  • Ability to establish long-range objectives and specify the strategies and actions to achieve them.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA and/or MBA is a Plus.
  • 5-7 years of experience in accounting or financial reporting roles preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with ERP systems. Power BI a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Salary Description
$80,000 - $100,000
