Summary
The Paralegal will be responsible for providing clerical support and assistance to attorneys.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform administrative duties such as calendaring appointments, hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics.
- Understand and perform electronic filing processes with various court systems.
- Maintain working knowledge of code of civil procedure, civil code, local rules, and courtroom rules and procedures.
- Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes.
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.
- Schedule and coordinate depositions, appointments, mediations, and other legal proceedings.
- Collect and organize evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation.
- Coordinate preparation of legal documents and correspondence.
- Proofread, revise, and finalize correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings, discovery, reports, and contracts.
- Manage, organize, and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems.
- Accurately document and bill for all billable and non-billable work and tasks according to billing procedures; meet annual billable hours requirement.
- Composes and prepares routine correspondence.
- Schedule appointments and meetings with clients and other professionals.
- Places and receives phone calls, as well as screening and transferring phone calls accordingly.
- Organize and conduct case-related team meetings as needed.
- Assist with mail handling and ordering supplies, as needed.
- Attend paralegal meetings and other meetings as required.
- Required knowledge of Word, Adobe, Excel, Outlook and various legal software.
- Communicate and interact with filing clerks, court room assistants and calendar clerks.
- Liaise with outside vendors such as court reporters, experts, mediators, etc.
- Interact with outside/opposing counsel to perform service of documents, coordinating depositions, and requesting extensions of deadlines.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Work Schedule
8:30-5:30pm Monday-Friday. Occasional weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements
Primarily sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to walk short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials. Work can be performed with or without accommodations.
