Pay: Range starts at $26/hour (pay is calculated based on years of applicable experience while licensed)

Job Summary

The Recreation Therapist provides recreational therapy services to individuals with mental health challenges, designing and implementing evidence-based therapeutic recreational programs to enhance well-being and quality of life. The Recreation Therapist collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and community partners to promote clients’ overall recovery and community integration.

  • Creates individualized care plans with detailed goals and objectives
  • Provides individual and group evidence-based recreational therapy interventions
  • Utilizes evidence-based interventions and tools to assist with treatment; adapts activities to address client needs
  • Provides targeted case management services as necessary
  • Collaborates on client care priorities with the multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Completes documentation within required timeframes
  • Meets client care hour expectations
Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or related field
  • Recreation Therapist (RT) license in state of practice
  • CPR certification (Provided by Valley)
  • Valley de-escalation training (Provided by Valley)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Recreation Therapy
  • Previous behavioral health experience
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Therapist Specialist (CTRS) license in state of practice
