SUMMARY:

Under appropriate supervision, the Staff Accountant will support the accurate and timely monthly closing of the general ledger including preparation and posting of journal entries, preparation of assigned general ledger account reconciliations ensuring account balances are materially correct and reconciling items are timely researched and resolved. Additionally, responsibilities will include fixed assets accounting, processing remote deposits, monitoring and maintaining the departmental UCH Accounting mailbox, and performing other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and objectives of the Accounting Team.


KEY RESULT AREAS (KRAs):

  • Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • General ledger accounting
  • Prepare timely and accurate month-end accruals and allocations
  • Prepare timely balance sheet account reconciliations and adjustments
  • Maintain the fixed assets subledger ensuring assets are properly set up and timely capitalized, depreciated and disposed of in accordance with established Company policies
  • Deposit receipts timely
  • Maintain documented business processes and accounting procedures
  • Leverage systems to facilitate efficient processes and reporting
  • Collaborate internally and/or cross-functionally to support overall goals and objectives of the team


Requirements

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting or related degree; and between one - and two - years’ experience in the field of accounting, preferably with a background in public accounting or healthcare.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills
