STUDENT MINISTRIES DIRECTOR/PASTOR

REPORTS TO: NEXT GEN PASTOR

RELATES CLOSELY WITH: STUDENT MINISTRY TEAM, ADULT SERVE TEAM, STUDENT SERVE TEAM, PARENTS

CLASSIFICATION: FULL-TIME//SALARY RANGE $65k-$90k

WestGate Church, a non-denominational, multi-congregational church situated in one of the most diverse and influential regions of the world—the Silicon Valley—is seeking a student ministries director/pastor to develop and maintain an effective students program to partner with families to lead students to say YES to Jesus and passionately follow Him. This full-time role (Sunday - Thursday) may require occasional work on Fridays and Saturdays as well as evening hours.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • For the director role, a Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university plus two years of experience and/or training in student ministry, or a related field. For the pastoral role, candidates should have a four-year degree and at least five years of proven success in leading a healthy and thriving student ministry.
  • Positive, professional, self-starter with excellent time management, balancing responsibilities while thriving in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
  • Proven ability to coach, develop, and invest in team members' leadership and discipleship.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality, handling situations with discretion, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Exhibits personal and professional discernment and discretion.
  • Superior communication skills: written and verbal.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build a healthy and sustainable ministry.
  • Recruit and develop an adult serve team and student leadership team - following the correct WG process.
  • Ensure excellent student ministry as described in our ministry playbook.
  • Implement discipleship strategies for the students of WestGate Church by providing guidance, mentorship and accountability.
  • Build the community by providing opportunities and encouragement for students to invite their friends, Biblical teaching in a relevant way, and Life Groups for more in-depth studies.
  • Be part of a team to prepare and deliver weekly teaching that will engage and encourage students in their discipleship to Jesus.
  • Ensure consistent and effective communication with parents and students.
  • Collaborate with the Student Ministry Team to plan and execute weekly/monthly/annual student events.
  • Plan and execute a student outreach program, to reach students who are not currently attending our student ministry.
  • Oversee Midweek & Weekend Student Service and Life Groups.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Student Ministry Interns.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
