Salary range: $48,000 - $69,600

Position Overview
The Kehillah School is seeking a passionate and innovative, part-time High School Fine Arts Teacher to inspire students through a dynamic visual arts curriculum. This educator will foster creativity, technical skills, and critical feedback integration while nurturing an inclusive classroom that values artistic expression and exploration. 

The role focuses on fine arts instruction, including drawing, painting, and mixed media, while also requiring foundational knowledge of digital arts, particularly digital illustration and Adobe Suite programs. The role is responsible for teaching courses to likely include: Kehillah Advanced Topics: Art & Design/Advanced Art, Studio Art, and Senior Studio (Independent Study.) Collaboration is key, as the teacher will work closely with the Digital Arts Teacher to develop an integrated, opportunity-rich program that supports students' artistic growth across multiple mediums.The ideal candidate is a collaborative and adaptable teacher committed to student growth and engagement in a multicultural, values-driven community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive high school art curriculum that supports various artistic mediums, techniques, and art history components, with special focus on drawing and painting.
  • Create a classroom environment that encourages artistic risk-taking, personal expression, and an appreciation for diverse artistic perspectives.
  • Provide individualized instruction and feedback to students, fostering their artistic and creative development.
  • Integrate contemporary and historical artistic influences into lesson plans, exposing students to a wide range of artistic styles and cultural traditions.
  • Organize and curate student exhibitions to showcase student artwork throughout the year and at an annual Visual & Performing Arts show.
  • Maintain and manage classroom supplies, art materials, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with faculty to incorporate interdisciplinary projects and support school-wide initiatives.
  • Foster a growth-oriented and respectful learning environment, aligned with Kehillah’s values: Community, Pursuit of Knowledge, Agency, Dialogue, Justice, and Loving Kindness.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school’s artistic and academic culture.
  • Serve as an advisor, mentor, or club facilitator to support students' overall learning and personal growth.
  • Attend weekly and/or bi-weekly faculty and departmental meetings and other departmental and schoolwide events as needed.


Requirements

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts, Art Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Teaching credential or significant experience in high school art instruction.
  • Strong knowledge of a variety of artistic techniques, including drawing, painting, digital art, 3D art, and mixed media.
  • Experience fostering an inclusive classroom environment that reflects diverse perspectives.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and student engagement skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a collaborative and student-centered learning environment.
  • Experience integrating technology into art education is a plus.
