Description

POSITION TITLE: Mechanical Designer 

REPORTS TO:  Manager of Product Engineering


POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION:  The position coordinates engineering projects/designs and layouts.  


POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

1.  Create and maintain 3D models and detailed drawings in SolidWorks.

2.  Create bills of material in ERP and create and submit engineering documentation for release and revisions.

3.  Prepare purchase requisitions for the acquisition of parts.

4.  Participate on cross functional design teams to prepare conceptual models and drawings for components and assemblies.

5.  Prepare fabrication and assembly detailed drawings.  

6.  Create bills of material for components and assemblies.

7.  Ensure correct setup of parts in system for manufacture of parts.

8.  Coordinate and support testing of prototypes both in lab and field environments.

9. Coordinate the creation of cost estimates to be provided to sales for customers.

        - Recommend material sources.

        - Validate proposed manufacturing processes for accuracy and completeness.

        - Review internal and external quotes for accuracy and completeness.

10.  Provide support to production through the interpretation of drawings and the resolution of manufacturing problems necessary to meet design specifications.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two-year Associate Degree in Mechanical Design Technology or related field
  • 2 years design and drafting experience using 3D modeling software or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • SolidWorks proficiency required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Project or similar project management software
  • Experience in/familiarity with the manufacturing product development process and engineering operations
