HSS a private, non-profit community resource agency founded in 1973, providing confidential COA-accredited services in Monroe County seeks a full-time Job Coach.

The job coach is directly responsible for providing supervision, training and support to people receiving employment services in community businesses and job sites. Assist people receiving services in achieving their employment/occupational outcomes by implementing person centered employment plans. Promoting self-advocacy and self-determination of the people served.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF POSITION DUTIES:

  • Orientate assigned new clients and significant others to the services and procedures of the Employment Services program, documenting all such orientation.
  • Evaluate person's performance to determine training needs.
  • Communicate effectively with HSS employment team, employers, and others to ensure a clear understanding for each supported person and the progress made. 
  • Problem solving skills, interpersonal skills, making reasonable accommodations, breaking down and analyzing job tasks are all necessary skills.
  • Develop a direct systematic training strategy using tasks analysis, modeling, cueing, and natural supports.
  • Complete necessary paperwork regarding consumer's progress and interactions with the Supervisor and co-worker.  Ensure all required documentation is complete, timely, accurate and professional.
  • Serve as an advocate for clients with other community resources. Emphasis should be placed upon providing supports and services in accordance with the individual’s strengths, talents, and interests.
  • Report to the Employment Services Manager cases in which the services are not in line with I.H.P./personal outcomes.
  • Facilitate communication between consumer, school district, employer, and other relevant parties.
  • Participate in Person Centered Planning Facilitation training on a regular basis.
  • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work with individuals age 17 and up.
Requirements
  • Must have a flexible schedule, be willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary to support the individual at his/her workplace. 
  • Must be high school graduate or equivalent and 18 years of age or older. 
  • Requires knowledge, skills, mental development equal to (1) interacting with staff and clients to carry out Building Futures Program needs, (2) understanding the human services needs of clients, (3) experience and working knowledge of person centered planning, (4) experience in serving individual with developmental disabilities/mental illness, (5) computer proficiency, (6) Demonstrated ability to work with others in a variety of professional relationships.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Shall have personal transportation in order to be able to move to assigned locations. 
  • Have proper license at all times and ability to operate Agency vehicles. 
  • Have normal or corrective appliances that make normal hearing and eyesight, as well as clarity of speech 
  • Be able to lift at least 50 pounds, have the strength and agility to climb at least two flights of stairs, the constitution to handle (with proper protection) client’s body excrements, and emotionally stable enough to react in a prescribed manner to a client in crisis.
