Position Overview

The AV Field Engineer, Technology is responsible for a variety of field and office duties associated with the proper installation and implementation of complex audiovisual systems. This position is responsible for ensuring proper installation of integrated systems, operating, testing, and troubleshooting audio and video equipment. The Field Engineer is also responsible for keeping project on time and under budget , Quality control of audiovisual infrastructure, commissioning and final calibrations. Interfacing with client to include demonstration of new system operations, client trainings, and obtaining client sign-offs.

  • Verify complete system functionality by ensuring all subsystems operate per project documentation. 
  • Capture all exceptions and work with project team to resolve open issues until all are complete and systems are performing to proper specification
  • Test integrated systems and train client on use
  • Manage and complete field & close out documentation
  • Verify proper and safe physical installation of all system components
  • Comply with Corporate Interiors Systems design and/or consultant specifications
  • Coordinate Installation Technician and Programming schedules with Project Manager
  • Completion of assigned tasks within timeframe allocated
  • Complete/approve any red line updates on system drawings for any changes required during the fabrication, installation and quality control steps
  • Perform a full quality control check for all fabrication and installation efforts including but not limited to AV best practices and AVIXA company standards
  • Perform full system calibrations for audio and video on installed systems

  

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is mostly in finished occupied commercial spaces. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

  • Ability to go up and down a ladder repeatedly
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to lift and install product overhead in the ceiling
  • Appropriate visual acuity to terminate cables

Travel

Travel to client locations is expected for this position. A valid driver's license, clean driving record, and auto insurance with state minimum bodily injury liability limits is required for this position.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • A minimum of 3 to 4 years’ experience in IT/AV or a related field
  • BA/BS in related field preferred
  • AVIXA accredited certifications preferred 
  • BICSI RCDD preferred
  • Crestron DMC-E4K preferred
  • Extron AV Associate designation preferred 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extremely proficient in computer systems used with multimedia productions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized.
  • Ability to perform minor repairs to equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in a variety of situations.
  • Proficient with test and calibration equipment. 
  • Problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Intimate knowledge of the following products: Extron Products, AMX products, Crestron products, Cisco & Polycom VTC Systems, Biamp, ClearOne, QSC, Audio gain structure and room equalization and Shure MXA products.
