Description

Operational Tasks 

  • Assist in purchasing process. 
  • Assist in coordination of trade partners, materials, and equipment procurement to meet project schedule. 
  • Gain knowledge and help manage project submittal process. 
  • Gain a basic knowledge of contract documents. 
  • Manage, craft, and distribute drawing logs and updates of contract documents. 
  • Attend and help maintain regularly scheduled meetings minutes as required. 
  • Assist with the generation and processing of RFI’s.
  • Gain a basic understanding in the development and maintenance of a project and look ahead schedules.
  • Assist in punch list and closeout process. 

Assist in Establishing and Managing a Positive Project Culture  

  • Be an active participant in the Columbia Way. 
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a culture of respect and professionalism. 

Be an active participant in Establishing and Maintaining a Strong Safety Culture 

  • Work with Columbia safety department to identify potential safety issues on project and develop safety mitigation measures.  
  • Attend site safety orientations and communicate clear safety expectations.  
  • Assist with weekly safety inspection checklists. 

Partner with Project Team 

  • Develop and maintain an open and honest line of communication with the project team.  
  • Participate in weekly internal team meetings.  
  • Report problems and issues to Project Manager/Superintendent in a timely manner.
  • Participate in subcontractor meetings.

Partner with Subcontractors/Suppliers 

  • Have a knowledge of the subcontractors’ Scope of Work. 
  • Help assist with the facilitation of on-site problem solving with the subcontractors as required.

Work Environment

  • Office setting: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Construction Site: Walking the site on uneven walking surfaces, climbing ladders, being around machinery with moving parts and around heavy equipment.
  • Protective gear: Wearing personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, clothing, and a hard hat, for most of the day while on the construction site.
  • Work Hours: This position generally works standard hours, but may work extended hours, nights, and weekends, especially during critical project phases, to address project delays or to assist with site coverage.
