We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer. This is a remote position. Candidate must be a detail-oriented engineer with strong technical aptitude, computer skills, and excellent communication skills.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with building product manufacturers to meet technical and quality requirements pertaining to certification. Identify codes and standards applicable to a building product.
  • Write or review test plans, technical support, and test report review services to testing laboratories pertaining to product certification testing.
  • Determine applicable loads for building components based on design standards, building code, and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform and annotate calculations and analyses in accordance with code-referenced design standards.
  • Extend test results through engineering judgements, interpolation, equivalency analysis, and other application of engineering principles.
  • Direct similar engineering work by engineering colleagues, including review and seal.
  • Help clients develop quality control systems that ensure ongoing performance and compliance of their products. 
  • Promote clear communication among colleagues and with others throughout the Building Product Industry.
  • Work closely with ICC-ES staff engineers and Inspection Services to communicate and meet requirements and needs related to certification and inspection programs.
  • Seek out opportunities to share expertise with colleagues and help them to excel.
  • Respond to clients’ technical and procedural inquiries on testing, analysis, and certification of building products.
  • Ensure that responses to internal and external customers are completed in a thorough and timely fashion.
  • Oversee, organize, prioritize, and schedule all own work activities and assignments, seeking help as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Requirements

Preferred Education: Licensed engineer or registered architect in any US jurisdiction, or Bachelor of Science Degree (minimum) in fire protection/science.


Preferred Experience:

  • Four years of experience in building products 
  • Applying laboratory methods and devising test programs for building products with and without well-defined evaluation methods
  • Analytical design for strength and serviceability of building products and systems

Preferred familiarity with:

  • International Building Code/International Residential Code
  • Code-referenced design standards, including AISI, ASCE, and AWC
  • ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria
  • ASTM Testing Standards, and other independent organizations with product testing standards.
  • NFPA and UL Standards
  • State of Florida Product Approval, Quality Assurance Programs
  • Miami Dade, Notice of Acceptance, Quality Assurance Programs
  • CFR Part 3280, Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards (HUD Code)
  • Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS)
