SUMMARY:
KTEC is a public charter school that is looking for strong, forward-thinking individuals to build the foundation of the school. Students at KTEC will earn certifications that align with competencies identified by industry. This model prepares students for post-secondary education, as well as being the workforce ready. Students will be empowered to develop a strong sense of character, understand how to function collectively within society and be career and future focused.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The position is a unique opportunity for a school counselor to develop a course called C3 that is structured around SEL (Social and Emotional Learning), and ACP (Academic and Career Planning). Throughout the course, the counselor will work alongside administration in holding career fairs, providing students with internship or job shadowing opportunities, monitoring students graduation requirements and portfolios (including a resume), and tiered interventions for competency requirements. There may be additional outside trainings required based on curriculum and/or program needs.
Additional functions will include:
A. Provides service to families and district staff, supports the KTEC community in general, and facilitates services between KTEC, parents, and community resources.
B. Effectively manages all accompanying responsibilities for the delivery of a successful district school counseling program.
C. Establishes, delivers and maintains an all-inclusive school counseling program to optimize the educational experience of KTEC students.
D. Perform other tasks and duties as may be assigned administration
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience, Education and Licensure:
- Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated knowledge of competency-based learning and curriculum development with an emphasis on SEL/ACP curriculum development.
- Certification Required: School Counselor or School Social Worker
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university, Master’s degree preferred
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Programs including Excel, Publisher, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Applications
- Ability to efficiently and effectively manage the time of self and others
- Ability to work with professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, equity, honesty and personal accountability always,
- Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional administrative and organizational skills.
- Proficient knowledge of teaching strategies and methods
- Ability to incorporate goals, competencies and objectives into lesson plans in ways that directly apply to student’s lives
- Critical thinking skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work Environment:
- Normal office/classroom environment with moderate noise levels.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computers and/or related equipment
