Description
The EMR Applications Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation, optimization, and ongoing management of electronic medical records (EMR) systems within Barrow Brain and Spine. This position will be responsible for ensuring efficient clinical workflows, data accuracy, and compliance with regulations by leading teams in system design, configuration, training, and troubleshooting, while collaborating closely with clinical staff to identify and address their needs within the EMR platform.

  

Key responsibilities include: 

  • System Implementation and Optimization: 
    • Leading the planning, design, and implementation of new EMR systems or major upgrades. 
    • Managing system configuration, including custom workflows, templates, and order sets to align with clinical practice. 
    • Identifying and resolving system issues, coordinating with vendors to address bugs and updates. 
  • User Training and Support: 
    • Developing and delivering comprehensive EMR training programs for clinicians, staff, and administrators. 
    • Providing ongoing technical support to users, addressing questions and troubleshooting issues. 
  • Clinical Workflow Analysis: 
    • Collaborating with clinicians to assess current workflows and identify areas for improvement within the EMR. 
    • Designing and implementing system changes to streamline clinical processes and optimize data capture. 
  • Data Integrity and Compliance: 
    • Monitoring data quality within the EMR, ensuring accuracy and completeness of patient records. 
    • Implementing data governance practices to maintain compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations. 
  • Project Management: 
    • Overseeing EMR-related projects, including budget management, timelines, and resource allocation. 
    • Managing vendor relationships and ensuring project deliverables are met. 
  • Stakeholder Management: 
    • Communicating effectively with executive and clinical leadership, IT teams, and other stakeholders regarding EMR initiatives. 
    • Gathering feedback from users to inform system improvements and future development. 
Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare operations 
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in athenaOne EMR system functionality and configuration.
  • Proven project management skills and ability to meet deadlines 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams 
  • Technical proficiency in data analysis and reporting 
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA 
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare informatics, nursing, or related field 
  • Experience in EMR implementation and support within a healthcare setting
