Overtown Youth Center is seeking a passionate and creative Music Instructor to join our dynamic team. As the Music Instructor, you will provide a comprehensive, engaging music curriculum that encourages students to explore their musical talents and express themselves through various genres and instruments. What you would do:

• Foster a dynamic and engaging learning environment that motivates young minds to develop a deep appreciation for music.
• Demonstrate proficiency in playing various musical instruments and lead students in performing and participating in music-related activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement a comprehensive curriculum and a structured schedule for music activities across elementary, middle, and high school levels, encompassing both school-year and summer programs.
• Partner with Development and Program teams to promote and execute musical showcases, exhibits, and performances with clear objectives and measurable outcomes.
• Utilize digital recording tools and software to produce, record, and edit high-quality music recordings.
• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of students during field trips, bus routes, and extracurricular activities.
• Attend relevant meetings, conferences, and training sessions to stay current with best practices in music education and student engagement.
• Collaborate effectively with volunteers, partners, and other stakeholders to enhance the overall music education experience.
• Ensure the proper maintenance and organization of classroom equipment and storage areas, ensuring all tools and supplies are in working order.

Who we’re looking for:

• Experienced music instructor with a background in teaching various musical instruments, music theory, composition, and vocal techniques.
• Passionate about music and dedicated to helping students develop their musical talents and skills.
• Strong classroom management abilities and the capability to engage students across different skill levels.
• Skilled in setting clear musical goals and providing constructive feedback to support students’ musical growth.
• Experience working with diverse student groups (grades K-12) and adapting lessons to meet individual needs.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with students, parents, staff, and partners.
• Organized with the ability to manage musical instruments, sheet music, and classroom setups effectively.
• Flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of students and the organization.
• Team-oriented, able to build strong, trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
• Willing to work evenings or weekends for performances, concerts, or special events.
