Description

Posterity Group, LLC is seeking professional and experienced Pharmacy Technicians to provide services at various locations including: Shaw AFB in Sumter, SC; Moody AFB in Valdosta, GA; and Robins AFB in Houston County, GA.
- Works autonomously using independent judgement to perform a full range of pharmacy technician duties, including assisting advanced/specialized pharmacy technicians as described in specialty pharmacy section below (at least 25% of the time).
- Provides telephone and consult triage and patient follow-up as assigned. Answers questions (via telephone, in-person, or consult) from patients, nurses, providers, and other medical center staff and refers complex or therapeutic questions to a pharmacist.
- Accurately fills finished prescriptions for mail-out or pick-up.
- Performs duties as a Team Leader for specific process improvement teams.
- Assists in mentoring and training peer and lower graded technicians, residents, volunteers and pharmacy students at least 25% of the time
- Resolves problems and troubleshoots outpatient pharmacy automation issues using the knowledge of the operation and care of automated equipment.
- Performs specialized inventory management duties using the knowledge of polices and procedures for inventory management in specialized areas such as emergency carts.
- Assists in the daily management of inventory including inventory stored in automated pharmacy technology (e.g. ScriptPro, Omnicell, etc.).
- Notifies purchaser of items needing ordering by scanning needed items into electronic devices provided by the wholesaler or by writing the item on the order book.
- Puts away the inventory as soon as it is received.
- May be required to serve as a backup for the Narcotic Technician duties in the narcotic vault in a non-recurring role.
- Prepares and dispenses controlled substances orders using VISTA and follows VA policies and DEA rules and regulations, using knowledge of policies and procedures for Controlled Substances.
- Enters computerized prescriptions or refill requests into the computer database accurately and efficiently.
- Examines prescriptions and refill requests against computer medication profiles for administrative irregularities (i.e. missing directions, missing VA provider identification, non-formulary medication, etc.) and makes appropriate referrals to a pharmacist.
- Selects the correct medications/paperwork and counts the correct quantity when completed manually or using automated equipment when appropriate.
- Performs compounding with aseptic technique for routine sterile products.
- After pharmacist review, prepares inpatient unit dose orders, delivering the proper medication or material in the proper strength, quantity and dosage form to the appropriate inpatient unit in a timely manner.
- Performs review of medication to be dispensed to inpatient areas (med-carts, ward stock), and/or fills unit-dose carts independently with secondary review when necessary.
- Operates and maintains complicated pharmacy equipment including the unit dose packaging machine and inpatient medication system.
- Prepares intravenous admixtures, excluding chemotherapy.
- Mixes ingredients in a safe and effective manner, inspecting the final product for accuracy, suitability and elegance, labels the product, maintains records of the manufacturing process and supplies the product for delivery to the patient care area after final check by a pharmacist.
- Provides support for clinical operations of the Anticoagulation Clinic and its clinical pharmacists.
Requirements
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). OR
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Certified Pharmacy Technician (ExCPT)
- at least two years of experience in relevant field

$16.75/hr - $19.25/hr
