POSITION SUMMARY

Primary responsibility of the Director, Trusts, Estates & Private Clients is to support their specific region (region includes New York, SW Connecticut, and New Jersey), while working to support the achievement of Freeman’s | Hindman business plans and business growth. Generate consignments for auctions by developing relationships with Trust & Estate Attorneys, Financial Advisors and other professional lead sources that can direct clients to Freeman’s | Hindman, such as CPA's, independent appraisers, and others. Additionally, along with our Museum Services team, expand relationships with museum professionals and institutions to source deaccessions and corporate collections. Expand relationships with private clients and individuals. Collaborates with Business Development team and passionately supports the Freeman’s | Hindman brand in daily interactions with clients and team members. Help drive Appraisal Business with assistance from Hindman Appraisals, LLC.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate new consignments by developing and expanding relationships with trust and estate attorneys through personal outreach weekly and by attending approved conferences regionally and nationally.
  • Expand relationships with Bankers and Private Clients.
  • Effectively builds and maintains partnerships externally with prospective clients and referral sources and maintains strong connections at all levels within the company to ensure success.
  • Work with our Marketing Department to prepare proposals for consignment opportunities.
  • Strategically calls on new prospects in the region to introduce them to Freeman’s | Hindman and broaden the Freeman’s | Hindman organizational presence.
  • Work with colleagues in partnership to lead expansion of Freeman’s | Hindman’s reach across the region and the US
  • Work as a strong and collaborative leader to the team.
  • Communicates and shares information with candor that builds trust and enhances relationships and teamwork.
  • Models the five principles of the client interaction guidelines and reinforces their importance by providing timely feedback.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in arts management, Art History, or Business; advanced degree highly desirable.
  • 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience within the arts auction industry.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and administrative skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients and colleagues.
  • Strong influence on sales skills and relationship-building; able to communicate the benefits of partnering with Freeman’s | Hindman to large and national accounts.
  • Team player: able to work across regions to influence national accounts and generate valuable consignments.
  • Successful track record of creating sales growth at or above target margins; highly motivated; drive for results.
  • High integrity in all aspects of work and dealing with others.
