The Senior Engineering Manager is a strategic leader within Moatable’s engineering organization, responsible for scaling impact by leading multiple engineering teams or a large, critical domain. This role focuses on developing senior engineers and emerging leaders, ensuring organizational health, and aligning technical execution with Trucker Path’s long-term business strategy. 

Why this role is unique 

Unlike a standard Senior Engineering Manager role, you will serve as the founding engineering leader for the Vietnam site. You are not just managing execution; you are shaping how engineering operates in Vietnam — defining standards for technical excellence, collaboration, and growth while partnering closely with global teams. 

This role is expected to continuously evaluate team structure, leadership capacity, and delivery effectiveness, and to make data-informed recommendations to support sustainable scaling as the organization grows.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Innovation 

  • Establish and communicate the technical vision and long-term strategy for multiple teams and the trucking domain. 
  • Translate this vision into a cohesive technical roadmap, aligned with global Trucker Path standards while enabling appropriate local autonomy. 
  • Partner with Technical Directors and senior technical leaders across Vietnam and China to define and align long-term technical direction. 
  • Guide teams toward robust, scalable solutions while empowering senior engineers, Engineering Leads to make team-level technical decisions. 
  • Champion the adoption of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor)  and ensure multiple teams leverage them effectively  
  • Drive a culture of technical excellence and innovation across your organization  
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and assess their strategic impact on organizational productivity 

Execution & Delivery  

  • Own the delivery process and outcomes for multiple teams, ensuring predictable, high-quality output at scale  
  • Manage complex, multi-team project planning and execution across your organization  
  • Define and track success metrics for organizational health including velocity, quality, operational stability, and team effectiveness  
  • Proactively identify and remove systemic blockers that impede progress across teams  
  • Ensure all teams consistently meet their commitments and delivery goals  
  • Optimize workflows across teams through strategic implementation of AI, automation tools, and process improvements  
  • Manage resource allocation and dependencies across your organization 

People Leadership  

  • Hire, develop, and retain a diverse organization of talented engineers, and define the hiring and development plan for future business needs as the organization scales. 
  • Coach and mentor senior engineers and Engineering Leads, helping them grow their technical and people leadership capabilities 
  • Conduct regular, meaningful 1:1s with direct reports focused on their growth and development  
  • Provide continuous feedback and coaching to senior engineers and Engineering Leads on how to effectively develop individuals and teams. 
  • Write thoughtful performance reviews and create development plans for your direct reports  
  • Foster a culture of psychological safety, trust, and high performance across all teams  
  • Build an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued throughout your organization  
  • Develop the next generation of engineering leaders  
  • Guide your organization in developing AI literacy and effective use of AI tools  

Communication & Collaboration  

  • Act as the primary communication hub between your organization and senior stakeholders  
  • Partner closely with Product Management, Design, and other departments to define and influence organizational roadmaps  
  • Clearly communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership  
  • Represent your organization in cross-functional leadership forums  
  • Shield teams from distractions while ensuring alignment with business goals and priorities 
  • Facilitate productive discussions across multiple teams that lead to clear decisions and accountable actions 
  • Advocate for your organization's needs and celebrate achievements across all teams  
  • Manage upward effectively, providing visibility into organizational health and progress  

Product & Business Impact  

  • Develop a deep understanding of product domain and customer needs across multiple areas within the Trucker Path BU 
  • Ensure teams understand the “why” behind their work and how it contributes to customer value and business outcomes 
  • Balance feature delivery, technical debt reduction, and innovation to support sustainable development 
  • Contribute significantly to product strategy and roadmap planning  
  • Drive initiatives that measurably improve customer satisfaction and key business metrics at scale 
  • Identify opportunities where AI and strategic technical investments can accelerate delivery, improve quality, and increase efficiency 
  • Align technical direction and execution with company-wide business objectives 
Requirements

Your Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, information systems, information technology or similar. 
  • 4+ years in engineering leadership roles leading multiple teams or complex technical domains, ideally in high-growth SaaS. 
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams directly in a scaling environment, with the ability to operate effectively both hands-on and at an organizational level 
  • Strong technical foundation in modern software development, with the credibility to influence architectural decisions and partner effectively with senior technical leaders 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence rather than authority in cross-team and cross-functional environments 
  • Experience working closely with Product Management and Design to translate business goals into executable technical plans 
  • Track record of building high-performing teams, fostering psychological safety, and developing senior engineers and emerging leaders 
  • Comfort navigating organizational ambiguity and proactively assessing team structure, delivery effectiveness, and leadership capacity 
  • Ability to identify organizational and technical gaps and propose pragmatic solutions, including recommendations for team structure, process improvements, and headcount when needed 
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts, trade-offs, risks, and progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders 
  • Experience working with distributed teams and stakeholders across different time zones is a plus, but not required 
  • Demonstrated experience driving measurable delivery outcomes while balancing feature development, technical debt, and long-term sustainability 
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and a mindset of leveraging AI to improve productivity, quality, and engineering effectiveness 
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-growing, evolving organization where structure and processes are still being defined
