JOB SUMMARY
The Machine Build Job Leader I is responsible for leading project builds and assembling components to build one of a kind special purpose machines and equipment from the ground up including installation at customer locations domestic and international. The position requires high quality workmanship, as well as meeting project deadlines and budgeted hours.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Analyze mechanical assembly and detail drawings using SolidWorks.
- Plan the progression of the machine build by analyzing project specifications and requirements.
- Participate in mechanical design reviews and project team meetings.
- Lead small projects independently or assist Job Leader II on larger and more complex projects.
- Maintain and update detail and assembly drawings utilizing provided computer tools.
- Work closely with project management to maintain schedule and budget on assigned projects.
- Collaborate with the mechanical and controls engineering during the debug process.
- Identifies break points and manages shipping constraints in collaboration with the controls build team.
- Work onsite with customers to oversee and facilitate smooth machine installations.
- Inspects fabricated details against drawing tolerances to verify conformance.
- Examine fabricated and purchased components for fit, form and function when assembling.
- Make alterations to fabricated and purchased components utilizing tool room equipment.
- Assemble fabricated and purchased components quickly and accurately.
- Performs tasks such as drilling, tapping, layout work, and mounting components.
- Validate machine motions for alignment, tolerance, repeatability, and function based on design specifications.
- Observe safety procedures.
OTHER DUTIES
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Any other task assigned by management within scope of position, federal and state regulations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School degree or GED.
- 2 years’ work experience as a Machinist or Tool Maker, preferred.
- 2 years’ experience machine/mechanical build assembly, preferred.
- New York State Toolmaker or Machine build Journeyman, preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and SolidWorks Viewer products preferred.
