*Paid after the successful completion of 90 days of employment with the agency and a satisfactory performance assessment.


Shifts Schedule: Monday – Friday (9am - 3:30pm)


PURPOSE

The Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Department of JF&CS is seeking caring, compassionate, committed people to join our team. The Complex Care Direct Support Professional is responsible for assisting our complex care needs clients who have intellectual and developmental disabilities to access the community and volunteer sites. To build relationships throughout the community that are receptive to involving those with a disability. To keep the daily records on clients and their daily activities and progress. To implement and oversee the daily scheduling of person centered program activities. Independence and professionalism is a must in this position. Knowledge and understanding of Autism and other developmental disabilities is key to the success of the client.


The purpose of this job is to give individuals with developmental disabilities the tools to live as independently as they possibly can while ensuring safety and high-quality service.


RESPONSIBILITIES of the Complex Care Specialist DSP:

• Provide observation, instruction, and support to complex care needs clients being served under Community Access Group services

• Teach and reinforce appropriate behaviors in the day center setting and on community outings

• Manage challenging client behaviors when necessary

• Be caring and compassionate toward clients and families

• Be goal-oriented and maintain professionalism in all aspects of your work

• Must possess strong organizational and time management skills along with ability to manage multiple tasks

• Manage client's daily living hygiene needs (toileting, feeding, etc. and monitor health status through

• Complete goal tracking, behavior tracking, attendance, communication logs, progress notes, and other needed documentation

• Contribute to a comprehensive schedule emphasizing purposeful community inclusion and meaningful learning activities

• Assist with development of natural supports in the community.

• Assist individuals to maintain health and safety and activities of daily living.

• Provide transportation in all agency vehicles or personal vehicle.

• Attend and participate in Team and Division Meetings, ISP's, HRST's, SIS, and other training opportunities

• Participate in all cross trainings as required by the agency.

• Communicate with coworkers and other staff regularly on client progress, issues and concerns as they arise

• Other Duties may be assigned

• The ability to organize, mediate, to be creative, multitask, empathetic, and willing to learn. This includes the development of plans, completion of assessments and daily documentation.

• Must be able to use the English language, and communicate clearly.

• Must be able to manage time effectively, to work alone and as a team member.

• Must have a Georgia State Driver's License, Georgia registration and a privately insured vehicle.

• Must possess and maintain a working cell phone with voice mail.

• Must possess and maintain ability to receive and respond to all business related text messaging.

• Must have email capability and the ability to check email at least once every work day.

• Must have basic knowledge and experience with computers

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Experience with developmental disabilities preferred.


Candidates who are selected for employment must successfully complete a pre-employment background screening as well as a pre-employment drug screening. Employment will be contingent upon the satisfactory completion of both the background check and the drug screening. Additionally, if applicable, tuberculosis testing (TB) and fingerprinting may also be required.
