Position Summary
This position can be based in any of our offices globally and is not limited to the U.S..
The Community Development Lead will drive growth and participation of athletes in line with The IRONMAN Group’s strategic vision to inspire people the world over to experience the life-changing journey of endurance sports. Focusing on specific athlete cohorts and primarily advancing women’s participation efforts for IRONMAN, the successful applicant will drive and shape strategy, implement tactics throughout all touchpoints of the organization and cultivate the athlete community via direct liaison.
- Positioned within the Global Marketing Team, the Community Development Lead is responsible for audience development, focusing specifically, but not exclusively, on driving greater participation of women in triathlon. Emphasis will be placed on:
- Contributing to the continuous evolution of IRONMAN’s women’s strategy
- Global collaboration tactical rollout to support strategy, including ultimate project management
- Curating and fostering in-person and online women’s communities.
The successful position-holder will be a goal-oriented project manager, as ready to influence senior strategy, as manage a social media page. They must possess a keen understanding for different customer profiles and be able to switch between perspectives with ease.
Key Responsibilities
Audience Development
- Critically analyze audience segments to identify meaningful messages, propositions acquisition and retention strategies. Particular focus on women in endurance sports
- As Project Manager, execute defined women in triathlon strategy: Roll out in-parallel tactics aimed to ensure more women can experience the life-changing journey of IRONMAN; Grow community membership by fostering in-person and online communities; Pilot and test programs and tactics in collaboration with regional teams; Plan and execute for-women events and experiences; Liaise with internal stakeholders and external advisors; Monitor progress and report to internal stakeholders; Continue to contribute to strategic evolution
- Seek and act on opportunities to expand athlete base/s through lead generation campaigns
- Adapt Series/ Brand messages so that they resonate with customers in specific locales
Community Management
- Develop and lead a strategy for redeveloping women in triathlon community group. This may include stewardship of an advisory board, ambassador and membership management
- Maintain the online component of this community by executing the social media strategy, including posting and monitoring
Global Campaigns
- In conjunction with Brand team, create brand marketing materials for the women’s initiative
- High impact brand campaigns and always-on messaging, targeting specific communities
- Develop marketing playbooks and supporting resources to ensure best practices for community marketing can be identified, followed and shared globally.
Skills and competencies
- 5+ years marketing or project management experience.
- Experience working with female athletes or in women’s sports is a plus
- A passion for customer-centric experiences and opportunities for women
- Proven project management skills, exceptional attention to detail and with innovative and results-driven mindset, focused on achieving measurable outcomes
- Be an innovative and results-driven individual who works autonomously yet collaborates with numerous stakeholders internationally, successfully influencing and advocacy
- A global mindset and desire to build strong relationships between brands and fans
