The Role
The Mount Vernon School is seeking registered nurses who can substitute when our full-time nurse is out on PTO/leave. Serving our K-G12 learners, nurses treat students for medical issues, help prevent physical issues and disease, administer daily student prescriptions, and coordinate routine health assessments during school hours (7:30 am - 3:30 pm).
- Responsible for professional medical treatment of students and staff
- Responsible for early detection of physical problems and health evaluations
- Maintains clinical records
- Manage student food allergies and sensitivities
- Collaborate and communicate with parents, faculty, and staff as needed regarding specific students or issues
- Refer athletic injuries to Athletic Trainer as needed for follow-up care
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with community stakeholders of all ages.
- Technical proficiency in utilizing online medical platforms and Google apps such as email, calendar, docs, and spreadsheets.
- Experience with Magnus software preferred.
Education and Experience
- Registered nurse with current Georgia nursing license required.
- Certified American Heart Association CPR, AED and First Aid instructor (or willing to obtain).
- Experience in school nursing or a related field such as pediatrics; early childhood experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and bending.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
