Description
Basic Description:
The Accounting Specialist staff role within the accounting and finance department.
Responsibilities:
Accounting Tasks
- Responsible for various balance sheet accounts tracking and reconciliation monthly.
- Assist with Marketing budgets, reconciliation and communication.
- Lease Accounting
- Annual Business Property Tax Declarations by location
- Tax Accruals and reconciliations
- Deposit Processes
- Month End Bank Reconciliations.
- Daily & Monthly reconciliations including but not limited to, Borrower Loan Imports, Online Payments, Upfronts & Escrow repair.
Other Tasks
- Assisting in preparing and presenting reports.
- Implementing and documenting policies and procedures.
- Participate on Department Committee
- Assist the servicing & accounting/finance teams with day-to-day operations.
- Assist with special projects with minimal supervision and drive results to ensure timely completion.
- Ability to cross-train within the team on specified tasks and processes.
- Assist with the year-end financial audit and ongoing compliance reporting and state audits, as needed.
- Assist Senior Management in projects, as requested.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in a servicing, math or financial or accounting role.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, math or a similar field.
- Base knowledge of investor and/or Mortgage experience preferred, not required.
- Experience with financial management systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent problem solving, analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment with capability of adapting quickly. Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines successfully.
- High degree of integrity and professionalism, including the ability to successfully deal with sensitive or confidential information.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team player.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational abilities.
