Summer 2025 Congressional Relations & Social Impact Intern
Hybrid---Washington DC
Description

The National Partnership for Women & Families is a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization that fights for equity for all women and families. We’re passionate about making change on big issues such as equal pay for all women, paid leave for working families and access to affordable health care that provides abortion and reproductive care. We advocate on the Hill and for federal, state and local policy.

The Congressional Relations & Social Impact Intern will work with our fast-paced team to advance the National Partnership’s health and economic justice priorities in Congress and with the business community. At the National Partnership, interns are integrally involved in our day-to-day work and undertake a wide range of activities. Activities will help interns develop skills needed for work in the advocacy world, including legislative research and tracking, writing for a variety of audiences, and preparing for meetings with members of Congress and the business community. Interns will compile news clips, review Congressional hearing schedules, attend or watch Congressional hearings and write summaries, draft correspondence, draft corporate meeting and event briefs, and help manage our Congressional tracking platform. Interns will also have the opportunity to attend briefings, coalition meetings, meetings with members of the National Partnership’s Business Working Group for Gender Equity, and other events on Capitol Hill. Qualifications include strong writing, communication, research, and computer skills; the ability to manage multiple tasks and take initiative; the ability to work independently; a significant degree of organization; and a high level of interest and passion for gender equity and the federal legislative process. Our ideal intern will be full-time and DC-based.

Office and Team Culture

The National Partnership is a 50 person staff that fosters a collaborative culture. We have a collegial work environment. The National Partnership is committed to protecting our employees and our communities from COVID-19. Toward that goal, the National Partnership requires all employees to be fully vaccinated and completely up to date via an FDA authorized and/or approved COVID-19 vaccination. Fully Vaccinated is defined by the CDC as being 2 weeks after the final dose in a primary series of COVID-19 vaccines (2 doses of Pfizer or Moderna, 1 dose of Johnson & Johnson). Up to date means a person has received all recommended COVID-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) when eligible. New employees must be fully vaccinated before their start date, and up-to-date as soon as eligible, unless an exemption due to a medical condition or a sincerely held religious belief or practice is granted.

The National Partnership is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to racial equity and social justice. We make a particular effort to recruit people of color to apply for open positions. People of color, LGBTQ individuals, people with disabilities, and people with other historically underrepresented identities are encouraged to apply. Please see EEO is the Law and Equal Employment Opportunity for more information.

How to apply: Please send your resume and cover letter by April 14th 11:59pm.
