Housekeeping Room Attendant
Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clean guest rooms (stripping beds and linens, emptying trash, cleaning mirrors, dusting furniture, etc.)
  • Clean and sanitize guest bathroom (clean commodes, tubs, floors, marble countertops, walls, mirrors, etc.)
  • Gather trash and waste. Properly dispose of items into the approved disposal area as specified by Housekeeping Management.
  • Ensure all lost and found items have been tagged and delivered to the Housekeeping Department Managers for logging.
  • Inspect rooms for needed repairs and for completion of cleaning.
  • Report any damage to furniture or fixtures to the Director of Rooms or Housekeeping Supervisor on duty.
  • Verify the appropriate use of cleaning products, as defined by the Material Safety Data sheets, prior to their intended use.
  • Arrange furniture, bedding, fixtures, and amenities in the room according to the standardized room setting.
  • Replenish all housekeeping items as necessary or requested. Examples: bathrobe, slippers, towels, tissue, bath mat, bedding, hangers, pillows, toiletries.
  • Perform all dusting and vacuuming in accordance with standards.
  • Inspect the guest room, working in a clockwise manner, recording which duties have been completed.
  • Replace clean towels on racks.
  • Place proper quantities of room accessories according to standards.
  • Operate a light vacuum.
  • Follow pet, smoke, and bug procedures as explained by a manager.
  • Follow all safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Prioritize the rooms based on guest requests, arrivals, etc.
  • Complete all special projects that are requested by the manager.
  • Deep clean assigned guest room once a year as per schedule and procedure.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Lifting to 50 pounds
  • Requires manual dexterity to complete housekeeping tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, moving furniture, making beds, changing bed linens, polishing bathroom fixtures, and cleaning floors.
  • You must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with guests, coworkers, and managers.
  • You must have the ability to use stairs and service elevators to move throughout the building.

Requirements

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Trade School Certificate or Training
  • Preferred candidate will have previous housekeeping experience in a luxury, boutique-hotel setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Requires ability to stand and walk for entire shift.
  • Requires ability to perform light to moderately heavy housekeeping duties (i.e.: lifting, reaching, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, and climbing on step stool) repeatedly throughout the work shift. 
  • Use tact and discretion when handling guests personal items.  

ENVIRONMENT:

This position is located indoors and is protected from weather conditions. Work with cleaning chemicals and occasionally work near dogs and other animals.
