Description

NCGA is seeking a Public Policy Assistant in our Washington, D.C. office. This role will provide overall support to policy and policy communications staff and Director of Washington Operations. This position will assist the Director, Public Policy and the work of the Risk Management Action Team, which is responsible for creation of internal policy development concerning various grower risk management tools. Additionally, this role will assist the broader public policy and communications team as requested on activities such as tracking legislation, supporting PAC administration and logistics, etc. The assistant will be on the front lines of communication with our grower members and leadership.

Reports to: DC Director – Washington Operations


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative functions for the staff, handle mail, type correspondence, and assist as needed to ensure the Washington office runs exceptionally 
  • Work with the Director, Public Policy on meeting coordination, logistics, and team member communications for Action Team Meetings.
  • Support the broader policy staff as needed on issues such as trade, transportation, ethanol, conservation, biotechnology, agriculture research, stewardship, etc.
  • Serve as customer service representative of the association to external customers (including grower members), and staff.

  • Interest in agriculture and agriculture policy


Education/Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in OR 
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Travel

Requires travel (10-15%). Must have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.



Position Type/Location

Full-Time Washington, D.C./Hybrid (Up to 2 days a week from home with supervisor approval)
