POSITION SUMMARY: Supervises classified advertising staff and coordinates all aspects of the PNI classified liner and legal advertising under the direction of the advertising director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervises and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the PNI classified advertising department, as needed.
2. Hires, fires, evaluates, commends, disciplines and supervises classified advisors and legal clerk with input of advertising management and personnel department.
3. Learns and is proficient with the operating system for classified advertising.
4. Operates computer, placing transient advertising for classified sections of the newspaper, as needed.
5. Oversees all classified & legal advertising collections.
6. Handles customer complaints.
7. Accepts and places classified advertising and legal notices from individuals and businesses on the phone and over the counter as needed.
8. Checks classified and legal advertising daily to ensure proper placement of all ads.
9. Informs customers about customer benefits, set-up and pricing of classified reader ads.
10. Reports production problems, customer problems, advertising or past-due bills to advertising management so that problems may be handled in the best and proper manner.
11. Provides monthly classified advertising reports to advertising management and CEO.
12. Works with advertising management to create promotions for increased sales for all classified advertising, including house-ad campaigns, specialty pages, and flyers.
13. Updates PNI Policy and Procedure Manual for the transient classified advertising and is knowledgeable of the WNI Advertising Handbook and fully understands PNI’s rate card.
14. Keeps abreast of similar competition and advertising trends in the market.
15. Has contact with customers over the phone and in the office in a courteous, professional manner.
16. Continually supports all PNI publications, by up selling into the weeklies with assistance from advertising management.
17. Maintains a successful working relationship with other PNI departments.
18. Provides and drives vehicle, has valid drivers license and has necessary amount of auto insurance.
19. Types at least 50 words per minute accurately.
20. Uses telephone, computer, printer, fax machine, 10-key by touch and copy machine.
21. Exceed customer expectations. A customer is anyone who contributes directly or indirectly to the revenues of the organization.
