Job Summary: The general function of a Maintenance Mechanic at La Reina is to ensure that all mechanical equipment is safe and in good working condition and that all new mechanical and electrical parts or equipment are installed according to regulations. This position will be responsible for upholding all Safety and Quality standards set forth by the company.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical preventative maintenance to all production equipment and facilities equipment. 
  • Fill out Maintenance Breakdown Report, RCA’s, SQF, and other reports as needed.
  • Also, we ensure that production lines are operating efficiently and safely so that our customers may receive the highest-quality product.
  • Fill out daily maintenance reports, including PM schedule reports. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve any mechanical repairs as they occur. 
  • Promote company policy and philosophy.
  • Provide preventative maintenance and lubrication for all machines 
  • Works closely with Production Operators PMO’s Supervisors/Managers.
  • Implements preventative maintenance procedures and ensures they are accomplished in a timely manner.
  • Complete daily maintenance reports.
  • Follow GMPs and quality and food Safety Programs as noted in the SQF Code and the company’s Food Safety and Quality Manual. 
  • Familiar with Food Safety and Sanitation Standards pertaining to food safety.
  • Recommends improvements, including capital items, to upgrade operations, reduce costs, and improve quality. 
  • Availability to work on weekends as necessary. 
  • Must be able to rotate shifts as required.
  • May be assigned other work as deemed necessary
  • Must communicate with other department Supervisors and Managers regarding issues that occur during their shift.
  • Must be able to multitask and work in adverse conditions, perform under pressure, and be willing to put in extra time as required to minimize production downtime.  
Requirements
  • Be able to read and follow written procedures
  • Proven attention to detail, responsible, mature, self-motivated
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work around the regular shift schedule, shift-based on production needs, including weekends.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • 1 year of previous production experience
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Food Manufacturing Machine Repair experience. 
  • Ability to rotate shifts based on department needs.
  • Forklift experience. 
  • Experience with food manufacturing equipment/machinery.
  • Own tools required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods 
  • Walk on uneven ground and wet or slippery floors
  • Twisting, turning, kneeling, stooping, and bending most of the day
  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to spices (allergens), including but not limited to soy and wheat
  • Exposure to high noise levels and high heat environment

PPE—Slip-resistant shoes, a hair and beard net, safety glasses, and earplugs are required in the work areas, and gloves are recommended.
