The Role

Legendary Television is seeking a visionary and dynamic senior executive to join our TV Development team. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of scripted television at Legendary, collaborating with top-tier talent, securing high-profile projects, and bringing compelling stories to audiences worldwide.

Reporting to the President & Managing Director of Television, the VP/SVP of Television Development will be instrumental in identifying, developing, and selling premium scripted series for broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms.

We are looking for a strategic thinker and relationship builder with a track record of driving successful development deals and a passion for innovative storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop & Drive Content Strategy: Identify new business opportunities, pursuing potential deals, while finding and securing new talent for projects in development.
• Talent & IP Acquisition: Cultivate relationships with top-tier creators, writers, showrunners, and production partners to secure high-quality IP and original ideas.
• Lead Development & Packaging: Oversee all aspects of development, including crafting pitch materials (decks, sizzles, casting reels), packaging projects, and presenting to buyers.
• Sales & Deal Making: Pitch and sell projects to streaming, cable, and broadcast networks, collaborating with Business & Legal Affairs to negotiate deals.
• Creative Oversight: Guide projects from concept to greenlight, ensuring strong creative direction and alignment with market trends.
• Strategic Leadership: Build and maintain high-impact relationships across the entertainment industry, from agencies and studios to producers and distributors.
• Mentor & Lead: Foster a collaborative team environment, providing leadership and mentorship to emerging executives.

• 10+ years of scripted television development experience with a proven track record of successfully developing and selling high-profile projects.
• Established relationships with network and streaming executives, as well as top-tier showrunners, writers, and producers.
• Deep industry knowledge in content development, packaging, negotiations, and production.
• Strong storytelling instincts and the ability to identify commercially viable content.
• Experience in evaluating and developing pitches that resonate with buyers.
• Proven leadership and mentorship skills, fostering strong creative and business partnerships.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, bringing a proactive and strategic mindset to development.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $120,000 to $325,000, depending on experience and level. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. Total rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. Legendary Entertainment also provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, employee wellness programs, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, year-round paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO). 

The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, market demands and indicators, specific and unique skills or training, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City and California.
