Position Summary: As an Externship Specialist, you will work closely with Futuro Health Scholars to provide personalized externship to employment coaching and support services to help scholars secure and excel in employment opportunities and externship placement. This role involves developing individualized externship to employment plans, conducting workforce readiness training, and providing weekly workshops related to externship to employment skills for scholars. This role will also track employment data at various points during and post the scholar journey. This role collaborates with the Director, Experiential Learning and Clinical Externship Sourcing Specialists (CESS) to favorably impact the employment portion of the scholar pathway for Futuro Health programs, the transition from externship to employment, and follow-up post-employment.
Essential Job Functions
- Develops and maintains relationships with healthcare partners.
- Identifies areas for potential employment, advanced training, and other placement opportunities for all graduating scholars.
- Maintains liaisons with Scholars.
- Identifies scholars no longer employed or in school and ensures another reconnection with a placement agency.
- Conducts mock interviews with scholars entering the E2E Transition Phase and provides further focus on interview techniques.
- Creates and maintains a caseload of active scholars and maintains weekly contact by telephone, email, social media, for all not placed scholars and completes documentation of such.
- Maintains monthly contact and documentation with all placed scholars.
- Maintain an online shared file folder for each scholar on caseload and ensure all information is accurate and current.
- Conduct exit interview with all separating scholars.
- Initiates contact with former enrollee scholars to conduct surveys.
- Engage in conversations on externship to employment developments to ensure up to date employer feedback included in scholar interactions.
- Engage in conferences, workshops, and professional development exercises to improve your understanding of and proficiency with clinical externship preparation and interviewing skills.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in career services or related field.
- Must have healthcare experience.
- Able to track data with analysis for reporting of trends and opportunities.
- Ability to always maintain confidentiality abiding by FERPA and HIPAA when handling sensitive/confidential information, issues, and requests.
- Proactive, possess drive and commitment towards standard and performance for self-development.
- Exhibit capacity to decipher verbal cues and offer interventions to promote a positive experience.
- Experience building community and social networks.
- Knowledge of principles and methods of adult education and active teaching strategies.
- Skill in executing responsibilities promptly, meticulously, and professionally, while demonstrating initiative and creativity.
- Skill in communicating effectively and professionally with emotional intelligence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including composing business correspondence and editing, and using correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Demonstrated experience with computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and office equipment.
- Knowledge of database management, and creating, contributing to, and maintaining records.
Education: High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
Supervisory Responsibility: This role does not have supervisory responsibility over staff.
Work Environment/Travel: This is a remote role. Travel will also be required to attend meetings, conferences, and intermittent Division meetings.
Physical Demands: Able to sit, stand, and type for prolonged periods of time. Ability to work irregular hours including after hours and weekends although this will be infrequent. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Position Type: This position is full-time, non-exempt. Hours may include weekends, nights, and holidays.
