Summary

The Events Manager will be responsible for selling, planning, organizing, and executing various events (both onsite and offsite), ensuring they run smoothly from start to finish. This involves partnering with clients, vendors, while managing staff, budgets, timelines, and logistics. This position will handle troubleshooting any issues that may arise before, during and after the event. The Events Manager will be responsible for providing friendly, responsive service that supports an exceptional experience for all guests, staff, and related partners.  


Responsibilities

  • Promote special event business through networking, past customer engagement, and local business relationships.
  • Lead and manage a team of event staff and coordinators, including scheduling based on labor targets, and ensure excellent client service.
  • Oversee offsite catering growth through sales, planning, and execution, while supporting site inspections and proposals.
  • Negotiate pricing, finalize contracts, and ensure adherence to payment processes and event details.
  • Maintain event calendars, staff meetings, and communication with vendors, and provide financial recaps for events.
  • Support staff development, conduct performance appraisals, hiring, offboarding, corrective actions, and ensure compliance with company and local health and safety regulations.
Requirements
  • Associate’s Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college within the business, event, or hospitality industry preferred 
  • At least 5 years of related experience and/or training in the food/beverage service, sales or restaurant/hotel industry.   
  • Must have experience and knowledge of ABC laws for legal sale of alcohol.   
  • Must possess knowledge of service, food and beverage industry and have creative menu development skills.   
  • Prior event sales experience desired. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and experience with Ctuit, Aloha, Caterease, TripleSeat, and/or Open Table.  
  • Must have a current San Diego County Food Handlers card, issued by the city of San Diego. Must possess a current RBS (Responsible Alcohol Beverage Service) training certificate. Certified Beer Server preferred.  
  • Reliable transportation is necessary for occasional travel to events and other bistro locations.

Compensation, Benefits & Perks

  • Pay Range: $70,000 - $75,000
  • This role is eligible for our Event Commission Plan.
