Description

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Senior Vice President of Programs, the Director of Housing is responsible for the supervision of all programmatic and operational elements of the housing programs offered by Camillus House in the southern part of Miami-Dade County. This includes scattered-site permanent supportive housing and site-based permanent housing programs. Moreover, the Director of Housing takes charge of budget accountability and personnel management. This position is part of the leadership team and works with the SVP of Programs to ensure the delivery of essential services.

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the housing programs assigned, including but not limited to HUD CoC tenant-based rental assistance programs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing housing assistance programs.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and program strategies to enhance service delivery.
  • Monitor program budgets, ensuring funds are spent correctly and in accordance with grant guidelines.
  • Hire, train, and supervise program staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with landlords, housing providers, and community organizations.
  • Analyze program performance, prepare reports, and recommend improvements based on data trends.
  • Stay current on housing policies, best practices, and funding opportunities.
  • Respond to inquiries from stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
  • Participate in emergency response and crisis intervention efforts as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to work in an office environment with occasional travel to housing sites.
  • May require lifting up to 25 lbs. and periods of standing, walking, or bending.
  • Noise levels can range from low to moderate.

Work Schedule:

  • Non-Remote Position
  • Full-time: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Flexibility required for evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call situations as needed.
Requirements

Qualifications, Essential Skills, and Experience Required:

  • Ability to understand and practice the mission of Camillus House.
  • Education: Master’s degree in social work, public administration, or a related field.
  • Language: Proficiency in oral/written English; Spanish preferred; additional languages a plus (i.e., Creole).
  • Experience: Minimum five (5) years of experience working with housing programs, affordable housing, or rental assistance programs, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of HUD regulations, tenant-based rental assistance programs, and other housing-related funding sources.
  • Experience with compliance monitoring, budgeting, and reporting requirements related to housing programs.
  • Strong understanding of the homeless continuum of care system, coordinated entry, and Housing First principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HMIS, and data management systems.
  • Successful completion of background screening.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
